REFLECTIONS FROM AMALINDA CEO SHARON STEAD ON THE COLLECTION’s FOURTH PROPERTY TURNING 2!

As I sit on the tree top hide at Sable Valley today, looking out at the magnificent valley of the Dete Vlei, I’m reminiscing on the last two years since we took over this property.

We would never have imagined how this derelict, broken down lodge could have been transformed in 4 months and how we were able to recapture the Grand Old Lady that she is.

Who would have believed that from day one, our suppliers and guests would love the old nostalgic Africa that Sable Valley embraces? It has been quite a remarkable 2 years.

Our idea was to bring the focus away from the rooms, outwards to the vlei and the magnificent expansive views of 9kms of Seregengeti-type-plains, and this was achieved by digging down in the Kalahari sands to create the Underground Hide right in front of the waterhole. This has proved to be one the our greatest attributes and favorite feature with photographers and those who cherish the close up interaction with wildlife.

As a family, Sable Valley captures a very special place in our hearts and we are grateful for you all who have walked these past two years with us, and those who continue to invest in our vision to protect these very fragile areas on the borders of Hwange National Park.
